Meet… Amy Scott

Audit and accounts semi-senior, Amy Scott, has been with Deeks Evans since September 2017 and is currently working towards the ACCA qualification, scoring an impressive 81% on her latest paper, Financial Reporting.

Amy left school at 18 and was unsure about the direction of her future career. She enjoyed her Business ‘A’ level and considered going into law, before opting for accountancy. Amy joined a local accountancy firm where she completed her AAT qualification.

Amy is getting a broad range of experience at Deeks Evans, working across the whole firm and has found she particularly enjoys accounts work, although she’s looking forward to doing more tax in the future.

“I have a local bookkeeping client which I visit each month to complete their VAT and CIS returns,” says Amy. “I enjoy getting to know clients individually by seeing what makes them successful and how they tackle any challenges which come their way.”

As well as working towards her ACCA qualification, Amy is currently also juggling the purchase of her first property.

“Studying taking up a lot of my time currently, but when I can I like going to the gym and getting outside for long walks,” she says.

Amy is enjoying working at Deeks Evans.

“Everyone here is so friendly and approachable and even though we are a busy office, it doesn’t feel overly pressured,” she explains. “In many ways, that reflects how we look after our clients. Everything is done on a personal level and we take time to get to know them and work in a way which fits them.”

Adds Karen Braddel, a Partner at Deeks Evans: “We are really enjoying having Amy as part of our team. It’s key that we look ahead as a firm and support younger people who are keen to work in accountancy. We are very proud of how well she’s doing with her exams.”
