Receptionist/administrator Maureen Avis has been with The Tunbridge Wells office of Deeks Evans for 12 years – a relatively short space of time compared with some of her colleagues.

“My job is very varied,” she says. “My receptionist role is greeting visitors when they come to our offices, making tea and coffee and answering the phone. I do the banking each week and am occasionally asked to witness client's signatures. I also do some administrative duties, such as filing and scanning, plus making up new files for clients.”

She continues: “I think what I enjoy most is meeting people and I also love working with my colleagues, particularly Jenni and Pauline, who I share the reception with. Deeks Evans is a very friendly place to work and we all get on really well. I think that's one of the main reasons why people stay here such a long time.”

Maureen adds that the only downside to her role is the fact that she lives in Tonbridge and has to battle the traffic between the two Kent towns.

“I have found that the best way to avoid the worst of the traffic and to get a parking space is to be in work early, so I'm often here around seven and open up,“ she explains.

Maureen didn't know anything about Deeks Evans when she joined the firm but says she soon came to realise that it had a very good reputation.

“Deeks Evans really looks after its clients, striving to do a good job for each and every one,” she says.

While at school, Maureen admits that she had 'no clue' what she wanted to do career-wise.

“I went to college to gain a business secretarial qualification and have worked in secretarial, receptionist and, more recently admin roles since then,” she says.

When she's not at work, Maureen enjoys visiting the theatre and cinema, walking her dog and spending time with family and friends.
