A clash of the legends

We are excited to be supporting a forthcoming match between Hastings United Legends and Manchester United Legends. The contest - which is in aid of St Michael's Hospice - is taking place at The Pilot Field, home of Hastings United, on Sunday 8 September at 3.00pm.

We are proud to be the accountant for Hastings United Football Club and Partner Stephen Toulson is also a passionate supporter of the club and looking forward to attending this exciting match.

The Manchester United legends confirmed so far are:

Wes Brown: He began his career with Manchester United, joining the club's academy at the age of 12 in 1992. After turning professional in 1996, he made his senior debut in 1998 and became a semi regular first team player during the 1998–99 season, when the club won the Treble. After a year-long hiatus due to injury, Brown became a regular fixture in the first team from 2000 onwards. Over the next eight years, he won numerous honours, including four more Premier League titles, an FA Cup, a League Cup and another Champions League. Brown earned his first England cap in 1999 and was selected to play at the 2002 World Cup.

Keith Gillespie: Gillespie signed for Manchester United on leaving school in the summer of 1991, being a member of the FA Youth Cup winning side in 1992. Also in that team were Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, David Beckham, Gary Neville and Robbie Savage. He made his first senior appearance for Manchester United in the 1992–93 season. Gillespie moved to Newcastle United in January 1995.

Russell Beardsmore: He began his career with Manchester United, making his debut in September 1988 against West Ham United. In only his second league start on New Year's Day 1989, he inspired Manchester United to a 3–1 home win over Liverpool at Old Trafford in the league, setting up goals for Brian McClair and Mark Hughes before scoring the third himself.

Other former Manchester United players in the team are David May, Chris Eagles, Danny Webber, Lee Martin, Michael Clegg and Ben Thornley.

The Hastings United Legends team so far includes Peter Heritage, the Club's current first team coach and Terry White, who has been named as Player Manager for the event; also playing are Nigel Kane, Sean Ray, Paul Smith, Stuart Playford, Ben Judge, Paul Ruddy, Stuart Myall, Dave King, Adam Flanagan, Paul Watson and Danny Simmonds, who made 369 appearances for the Club, scoring 90 goals.
